Bronze statue, signed Hiolin. A young shepherd and his dog in pursuit of a wolf sheep killer.  Hiolin went to Paris in 1864 and entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts the following year. He was taken prisoner in 1870 during the Franco-Prussian war and could not complete his studies until his return to France. Subsequently he received a number of commissions for various monuments to be erected around France. His best known work is this one called Au Loup which was exhibited at the Salon in 1874 and bought by the City of Paris and now at the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont.
