18th Century Italian Antique Dancing Putto on a base
Marble 18th century dancing putto marble statue,
The sculpture features a small dancing Angel 'Putto" supported on a marble block with wonderful detailing on the draping cloth and face. The sculpture is supported by an iron rod stuck in the marble base and fixed with molten lead (a typical system of the time). The holes that were used to attach the wings are still present on the angel's back.

The marble block base measures: 11" W x 11" D x 10"H
Created in the late 18th century this piece is hand-carved from white marble and features a wonderful aged patina and distress consistent with its age, but still maintains its structural integrity and charm.
The marble Putto is been aging in a wonderful garden in Stresa on the lake Maggiore for the last 70 years. The marble has been worn out by the elements but the beautiful elegance and detail are still evident and appreciable. This piece can be displayed both indoors and outdoors and will suit a variety of styles, suitable for all fine interiors.
